DI LORETO, Goffredo

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Goffredo Carmine Di Loreto at 7:20 PM on Wednesday, June 5, 2019. Beloved husband for over 65 years to Elisa. He leaves behind his two children Luciano (Irene) and Rosanna (Dave). Most notably however, his departure will be felt with immense heartache by his two grandchildren, Jessica and David whom he loved more than anything else in this world. As young children Jessica and David explored the world with “Nonno” and learned to love life in all its glory. Goffredo also leaves behind countless nephews and nieces as well as surviving brother and sister in laws.
And now it’s on to the next chapter of his new life in and amongst his friends in heaven… his brother Angelo, his cousins Avio, Goeto, and Biagio, Cumpare Romeo, Cumpare Gino, Cumpare Vincenzo, Sergio, Stefano Tucci, and he finally reunites with his father Rocco, mother Silena and his sister Anna. The feast will be full of food, storytelling and laughter with Goffredo the ringleader perpetually retelling old stories with a flair that no one else could match. And that laugh, oh that laugh that came deep from within and could be heard for miles. We will all wait to hear it thundering down from the heavens!
We will miss and love you more than you can imagine Papa and we will never forget you… never!
Visitation(s) will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home (2960 Dufferin St., south of Lawrence Ave. W.) on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church (2 Richardson Ave., Eglinton Ave., east of Keele St.) on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (8361 Yonge St., just south of Highway 7). In memory of Goffredo, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Dear Luciano/Rosanna/Comare Elisa,
I'm very sorry for your loss, and even more sorry that I was unable to attend the funeral services because I was participating in the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer that weekend. It goes without saying that Compare Goffredo played a huge part in my young adolescent life. To this day, every time I see TV ads showing people camping, fishing, and roasting marshmallows, the memories of Orillia's Tudhope Campground come back to me. Then I would start telling my kids the stories about me having to lift big river rocks so Compare Goffredo could grab crawfish (aka "gamberi") barehanded that tried to escape his grasp. He never let a single one get by him. Oh man, the sauce that those mini lobster-looking things would make!! I look back at those years with the fondest of memories. He was definitely a man who enjoyed the company of family and friends, and he showed it every time we got together. Even though I was the youngest, he always included me in every event, especially went it came time for the annual polenta party in the basement!! I always got a corner seat at the table - very advantageous location. His energy and joy for life was always cranked up to 11, and you couldn't help but smile when he was around. Never was a dull day ever spent with Compare Goffredo, and for that I will forever be grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Dear Luciano,

Yesterday evening I bumped into Ed and Loretta as they were doing their walk around the mall at Vaughan Mills. It was at that time that Ed informed me of the passing of your father. I was not made aware of this news and I am saddened that I did not have the opportunity to express my condolences in person at the funeral home. I can still see your father in my mind's eye on that day he, and I believe his brother, cooked lunch for the gang. If I remember correctly, it was June and during the exam schedule when you kindly had all the "coaches" over to your dad's place. I remember him as being very jovial and infectious in his disposition. I could easily see where you inherited your outstanding story telling gifts! I will remember you, your family, and in particular your father in my prayers. Once again, my heartfelt condolences!

Dear Luciano and Irene,
With heartfelt sorrow we send you our deepest sympathy and condolences. When we lose our parents we have lost the key to our past, we become orphans on the tree of life. Yet with each loss we become stronger for the sake of our children and future generations. In the natural evolution of our being we look back at our past and treasure the memories that our parents and grandparents have given us. The traditions and culture that has been passed on to us will be our gift to pass on to our future generations. We are thankful for the hard work and sacrifice that our parents have made in order to give us and our children a much better life full of love, kindness, respect, tradition and culture. Your father is a symbol to you and your family of the rewards that his sacrifices have given us. His legacy will live on through you and on to your children and grandchildren. May his life and legacy be celebrated and memorialized for eternity. May he eternally rest in peace in the palm of God's hand. God bless you Mr. G. Di Loreto as you travel on to eternal rest.
In deepest sympathy,
Anna Maria and John Di Tomaso and Family

I am deeply saddened to learn of Zio Goffredo's passing. A real character, in the most positive sense of the term; your obituary captured him perfectly. I am sorry that distance prevents me from attending the visitations and the funeral.; to everyone in the family, and to all he knew him, my most sincere condolences.
